~ 8 Sept, Sunny ~
Today we will concur the top of Europe, Jungfraujoch (UNESCO World Heritage of Swiss Apls). There were two stages of train travel in order to reach the top of Europe. First stage was quite alright for us and the scenery was magnificent. The second one was tough because the altitude was 3000m above the sea levels, the air was thin. You need to keep talking to keep yourself awake. The toughest part of the whole journey was when the train went through the tunnel and continued all the way up to 3454m that is the highest –altitude railway station in Europe. You can feel that your head is spinning and almost losing balance if your move is bigger. You can also feel that your heart was pumping faster than at the normal sea level. I believe that is so called mild mountain sickness that everyone will suffer from it.
Despite all these, the view and experience on the way up to the top is unforgettable. The mountain and the glacier were so near yet so far appearing in front of you when you look out of the train window. They are spectacular.

Upon arrival at the top of the railway station, we visited the Ice Palace 30 meters under the glacier and we managed to stand on the Sphinx Observation – the highest vintage point in Europe. Wow....we can’t believe that we were at the top of Europe!

We had our light lunch at a restaurant at the top of the Europe. It was a bit difficult for us to have our lunch at our normal speed due to the fact that the altitude is too high that it was easy to cause more symptoms of mountain sickness if we take in our food too fast. At the end we did not finish our lovely ice cream..what a waste!

During the way back from the top was easy one. We were sleeping all the way down in train and everything went smooth. We were then transferred back to Interlaken for our relax afternoon and night.
We went for a short stroll in the evening and had the longest wait during our dinner to serve!! I think for those living in Singapore, are not get used to a long wait for the dinner to serve. As I wanted to re-confirm if the waiter had got my order (as gentle reminder), he said “You are here not too long!”, haha I believe I’m the only one who rush them to serve my dinner.
By the way, we ordered Rosti, pork steak set, tomato and grape juice. The Rosti was too salty and the steak portion was too big for two of us. It costed us 47.90 CH..mm quite costly.
