~3 Sept, Sunny ~
Today we head towards Florence, birthplace of the Italian Renaissance for our heritage Walking Tour. Florence is the heart of the Renaissance under the Medici family in the 15th and 16th centuries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982.
You can find Michelangelo's David sculpture here as well. It was sculpted from 1501 to 1504, is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture and one of Michelangelo's two greatest works of sculpture, along with the Pietà.
Around noon, we had our excellent pizza lunch on the hill overlooking the Florence city.
Next we proceed to Santa Maria Cathedral, the façade. The whole façade is dedicated to the Mother of Christ.
We visited the doors of Paradise opposite the façade at the Baptistry of St. Giovanni, a matchless work of bronze which took Ghiberti 27 years to complete.
We proceeded to Piazza della Signoria where the old palace (Palazzo Vecchio) stands, admiring remarkable beautiful statues from Italian master like Cellini, Giambologna etc. Statues that we saw among them are Galileo Galilei and Leornado Davinci.
We then moved on to the famous leather factory in Italy, Perruzi.
We ended the day with Pisa, the incredible Leaning Tower of Pisa in the Field of Miracle. We admired the beauty of this tower along with the Baptistry and Duomo Cathedral.
Said goodbye to Pisa, we travel about to our hotel, West Florence and had good rest.
