Our Honeymoon (Day 4)

~ 4 Sept, Sunny ~
This morning we drive across the Apennine Mountains to one of the most romantic cities in Italy, Venice, a fabulous city of canals, gondolas and fantastic palaces. Venice is uniquely erected on an archipelago of 117 islands and characterized by its 177 canals.

We depart from the terminal towards St Mark Square where it is located in Venice.

It was exciting feeling walking on the street of Venice admiring excellent view of the romantic town.

Our Venice sightseeing covers the principal monuments around the St. Mark Square, the Basilica, and the celebrated Bridge of Sighs. The bridge name, given by Lord Byron in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice out the window before being taken down to their cells. A local legend says that lovers will be assured eternal love if they kiss on a gondola at sunset under the bridge. This legend played a key part in the 1979 film A Little Romace..

We had our simple lunch at one of the café enjoying our kebab and sandwiches.

Of course we will not miss the chance catching Gondola Serenade. We enjoy the romantic gondola journey along canals full of character and colours, a photographer’s paradise. However, the one who lead the gondola didn’t sing and it was too peaceful throughout the whole journey..hehe.

You can find many interesting shops in Venice, one of them is selling the famous Venetian masks.

We stop at one of the finest glass blowing factories to see how richly coloured Venetian glass is made.

We end our day at our Delfino hotel in Venice…
